A collection of Rhipsalis. Rhipsalis are an epiphytic cactus that grow in forests with pronounced wet and dry seasons. In the warmer months they should be watered once dry but not left dry for extended periods as this will cause fine hair like roots to form along the leaf surface which can be unsightly. In Winter while they are dormant they will tolerate dry periods and in fact being too wet can cause them to rot. To grow best and achieve their best colour and potentially flower they should be grown in bright light and some morning sun will achieve the best results. Many species will grow outdoors in Melbourne if they are protected from winter rains.
Plants supplied in a 130mm plastic hanging pot.
